Pure II uses the same lamp and reflector design as the Retra Flash Maxi, together with the more powerful pilot light found in the Retra Flash Pro Max II.

At the center of the beam, flash output is comparable to the Pro Max II. The beam itself is narrower and has a cooler color temperature, reflecting the optical characteristics of the Maxi lamp and reflector system.

The housing and control dials are shared with the Pro Max II, providing the same familiar handling and robust construction. To keep the design simple and lightweight, the rear panel does not include a display and instead uses a clear LED status indicator.
